In the name of God Amen I Robert Winterbothom of Strynds in Saddleworth in the County of Yorks We now being Aged and Infirm in Body but of Sound and perfect Memory Thanks be Given to Almighty God for the same and knowing the uncertainty of this Life on earth, and being desirous to Settle things in Order to make this my last Will and Teastam’t: in manor and forme following, That is to saye, ffirst and Principally I Comitt and most humbly Comend my Soule into the hands of the Almighty God my Creator: Assuredly Believing I shall Receive ffull Pardon and fsfree Remission of all my Sinnes, and be saved by the pretious Death and Merritts of my Blessed Savior and Redeemer the Lord Jesus Christ, and my Body I Comitt and leave to Christian Buriall to be Buried in such decent and Christian manor as my Executors hereafter named and my friends shall think most Convenient, And as Touching such Temporall estate as it hath pleased God in mercy to Send me my will & mind is the same shall be Employed and bestowed as is herein hereafter Nominate and expressed, Imprimis it is my Will and mind that all my Debts ffunerall expenses Probation of this my Past Will and Exhibbiting An Inventory, be first Paid and discharged out of my whole Goods and personall Estate Item it is my will and mind & I do give and Bequeath unto Sarah my loving wife the Tenement wherein I inhabit and dwell to be by her enjoyed and Occupied untill the Second day of ffebruary next after my Decease Item I do give and Bequeath unto my yonger Sonn Henry Winterbothom the afforesaid Messuage and Tenement with all and every th’appurtenances to enter upon and Enjoy the same from and after the Second day of ffebruary next after my Decease for and during all the Terme and time Granted to me in One Indenture of Lease of James ffarrer Esq together allso with all Tythe Intrest Tenant Right ffayre or Demand whatsoever in as Large and Ample manor as I myself might be Accepted on as Tenant if I were then living by paying and discharging all Rents Boones Duties Services Reparations & Carriages for the premises afforesaid during all the terme of the afforesaid Indenture of Lease Granted for the said messuage & Tenement: This I do give and Bequeath unto Sarah my loving wife all my personall estate goods Cattell Chattels Debts Houshould Stuffe and other Utensils whatsoever not formerly given and Bequeathed for and during the terme of her Naturall life she Paying and discharging unto my Six Children each of them two Shillings and Sixpence of Poore, & disposing Giving Bequeathing all the Remaynder thereof Amongst my said Six Children or so many of them as shall be then living According to her own discretion at and before the time of her decease, And Lastly I do Constitute Nominate Ordayne and Appoint Sarah my loving wife and Also my yonger Sonn Henry my true and Lawfull executors & honoring this will execute this my last will According to the honor thereof and my trust in them Reposed and so Renouncing and Revoking all former and other wills whatsoever I do Publish and Declare this to be my Last will and Teastam’t: in manor and forme as is before herein expressed. In Witness whereof I the said Robert Winterbothom have hereunto Sett my hand and Seale the Eighteenth day of June An. Dom. 1714 And in the thirteenth yeare of the Raigne of the most Gratious Soveraigne Lady Ann: now Queen of Great Brittain and ffrance and Ireland Defender of the Faith.
